Industry Collaborations

Work at the frontier of wireless networking, infrastructure, and technology meant direct collaboration with people who shaped the industry. These aren't name-drops - they're working relationships forged during the early days when the technology was still being figured out.

Sky Dayton

Founder of EarthLink and Boingo Wireless.

Dayton discovered the AspenWave network while visiting Aspen for a conference - documented in the Wall Street Journal's December 2001 piece that coined the term "wireless guerrilla." Jim Selby went on to work with Sky for years as Dayton launched Boingo Wireless, one of the first commercial Wi-Fi hotspot aggregators.

Jim Selby

Co-founder, AspenWave / MacAspen. Pioneer wireless ISP operator.

Built Colorado's first wireless ISP together. The WSJ profiled Selby as the archetype "wireless guerrilla" - building shoestring networks from improvised hardware. Jim continued in the wireless industry for decades, working with Sky Dayton and others to commercialize what started as guerrilla infrastructure.
